We are inviting you to join us for this exceptional « Overlander Expedition » in one of the wildest areas of Africa !
From the dunes of Sossusvlei we will cross the desert to meet the very proud « Himba « people, and spend several days in the world famous Ethosha National park which boasts of having one of the highest concentration of wild animals in the world. In Botswana which is often called the African Garden of Eden we will discover the Okavango Delta and the Chobe National park. We will then follow the trails of Dr Livington to the spectacular Victoria Falls, situated on the Zambie/Zimbabwe border.

In small groups limited to max. 18 we will live this expedition like the first „Overlanders“ discovering Africa. In our 4x4 Bus/truck we will have all the material we need for cooking and camping 2 nights it two unforgettable corners of paradise.. the first in the rock formations of Spitzkoppe and the second in the heart of Botswana on an island in the middle of the Okavango Delta.. All the other nights will be in beautiful lodges,guesthouses and cozy hotels.

Barbara and I have accompanied numerous groups around the world, This one we will be doing for the fourth time, thats how fabulous it is. We love sharing our travels with you, its a great way to meet new friends, and open our eyes to the realities of the rest of the world, and to constantly be amazed by God,s creations.

Wednesday April 5th

FLY TO WINDHOEK/ NAMIBIA
Fly to Namibia.
The Swiss group leaves Geneva at 17:10 to London and continues by British Airways flight BA057 at 10:50 to Johannesburg.

Thursday April 6th

JOHANNESBURG – WINDHOEK
The swiss group arrives in Johannesburg at 09:05 and continues with BA6275 to Windhoek, departure 12:00, arrival 14:00.
Welcome and transfer to our hotel-guesthouse. Free afternoon for meeting the other participants, rest and/or visit Windhoek. Supper at “Joe’s Beerhouse“ which features a menu of “African Specialties“.
Night in the Safari Court Hotel - Windhoek.

Friday April 7th

WINDHOEK - SOSSUSVLEI (310km)
After breakfast at the guesthouse we hit the road for the Namib Desert and its famous dunes. In the afternoon arrival at the Sossus Dunes Lodge, located inside the Namib-Nauklift National Park. Evening will be spent in this awesome ambiance with our feet in the sand of the Sossusvlei dunes.
Supper and 2 nights in the Rostok Ritz Lodge.

Saturday April 8th

SOSSUSVLEI (2 x 60km)
It’s an early riser! We want to get to the famous Dune 45 to watch the sunrise. Breakfast at the foot of the dune. Next we visit Sossusvlei, a desert of salt (salar) and clay in the Namib desert, a “oued“ or valley surrounded by red dunes which eventually forms a sea of salt. Short nature- walk with a specialist of the area.

Sunday April 9th

SOSSUSVLEI - SWAKOPMUND (350km)
Beautiful road through the desert, we will pass by Solitaire, WalvisBay where we often see Pink Flamingos. In the afternoon we arrive in Swakupmond, a typical german colony where we will stay in the a small Lodge. Time for shopping and leasure. Lunch prepared by our cook and supper in a local restaurant. Night in Stay@Swakop Guesthouse, in Swakopmund.

Monday April 10th

SWAKOPMUND – SPITZKOPPE (150km)
Now we’re leaving the modern world behind us (3-4hour drive) , and driving inland to the mysterious area of Spitzkoppe and its “San“ people. Supper by the campfire and night under the stars or in your tent., in this fabulous site lost in nowhere. (Outside toilets and 0 commodities..but it's worth it).

Tuesday April 11th

SPITZKOPPE – KAMANJAB (310km)
Today we have 5-6hours of driving to Kamanjab to meet with the local people, the Himba, who are easily recognised by their unique style of clothing (or lack therof). Night in a hotel in Kamanjab. Oase Guesthouse.
Breakfast and lunch prepared by our cook, supper : Oase Guesthouse restaurant

Wednesday April 12th

KAMANJAB – DOLOMITE / Parc Ntl ETOSHA (110km)
On our way to Etosha Nat. Park, one of the biggest protected areas of our planet. We will spend 3 days discovering numerous animals of the savana, hopefully the BigFive (lion,elephant, leopard,buffalo and rhino). Our first night will be in the Dolomite Lodge, inside the Etosha Park on the western boundary.
Lunch will be prepared by our cook and supper will be served in our lodge.

Thursday April 13th

DOLOMITE – OKAUKUEJO / Etosha Ntl Park (170km)
All day safari in the park which extends for 300km west to east and 110km north to south. There are 114 species of mammals in the park including giraffs. Tonight we will be staying in the Halali Lodge.
Lunch will be prepared by our cook and supper will be served in our lodge.

Friday April 14th

OKAUKUEJO-NAMUTANI / Etosha Ntl Park (135 km)
All day safari in the park. Tonight we will stay in the Namutoni Lodge
Lunch will be prepared by our cook and supper will be served in our lodge

Saturday April 15th

NAMUTONI - RUNDU (370km)
After a short morning safari we head straight for Rundu following the Kavango river. Tonight we will stay in the N'Kwazi Lodge, close to the Pongola Game Reserve and the Angola border.

Sunday April 16th

RUNDU – POPA FALLS (210km)
After breakfast in the Sarasungu Lodge we head for Divundu where we will stay in the Popa Falls Lodge. Supper , followed by a traditional African Dance show.

Monday April 17th

DELTA DE L’OKAVANGO (45km)
After breakfast at the lodge we will cross the Muhembo border into Botswana and go to Shakawe. Here we will exchange our bus for local transport which will take us into the delta. In “mokoros“ small wooden dugout canoes we will explore the waterways, through the lilypads and papyrus. Tonight we will be camping on a little island in the middle of the reeds and birds…An unfogettable experience.

Tuesday April 18th

DELTA DE L'OKAVANGO – POPA FALLS (45 km)
We will spend most of the day exploring this paradise where we can find more than 500 bird species. In the afternoon we will return to Popa Falls for supper and the night.

Wednesday April 19th

POPA FALLS – CAPRIVI Ntl Park (320 km)
Today we leave the delta and cross the Caprivi National Park in Namibia (5-6hours). Tonight we will stay in the Protea Zambezi Lodge, situated in Katima Mulilo close to the Zambezi River.

Thursday April 20th

CAPRIVI – CHOBE Ntl Park (170 km)
After breakfast in the Zambezi lodge, our road will follow the Chobe River. From here we will do a cruise/safari inside the famous Chobe Park. A fabulous way to see numerous animals (elephants, buffalos, giraffs and lions) on the shore. We will still do a land safari in jeeps before going to our lodge on the shores of the Chobe River. Friday April 21st

CHOBE – VICTORIA FALLS (240 km)
After breakfast in the lodge we head for Zimbabwe where we will stay in the A'Zambezi Lodge. In the afternoon we will take a beautiful walk facing the famous Victoria Falls, one of the “Natural Wonders“ of the world.
Lunch prepared by our cook and supper in the lodge restaurant.

Saturday April 22nd

VICTORIA FALLS - EUROPE
Breakfast in the Lodge. The day is free : return to the WaterFalls (must pay entrance), join a rafting tour, helicopter tour, etc. Lunch time is free. Evening meal and night in the A'Zambezi River Lodge.

Sunday April 23rd

VICTORIA FALLS - EUROPE
Breakfast in the Lodge. Free time. Transfer to the VicFalls airport (no meals included today).
Please note : if you do have the time, we suggest to add one or two extra nights in Victoria Falls. There is lots to do there, it's a nice place to stay!
The swiss participants fly BA6282 départing at 13:55 to Johannesburg, arrival 15:35. Continue by BA056 to London/Heathrow at 20:45.

RETURN HOME
Arrival of BA056 at 05:45 in London-Heathrow. Continue by BA724 at 06:50, arrive in Geneva at 09:25.

GENERAL INFORMATION :

Transport
For the entire tour, we wil be travelling in a "overlander" truck, well equiped with kitchen material, camping gear, mattresses etc. An ideal vehicle for the roads we intend to drive on and for game viewing (wide windows one can open easily). Inside the truck, we will enjoy confortable seats (facing forward)

Accomodation
14 nights will be spent in nice comfortable lodges& guesthouses. 2 nights however will be out in nature, in tents for two, as to enjoy the amazing beauty of the nature.

Staff
We will have an experienced English speaking driver and his or her helper & cook. Danilo & Barbara will make sure all information will be translated into French for the French-speaking folks.

Bagage
It will be very important the each participant brings his/her own sleeping bag (for the 2 nights in tents). Also, you bagage must not be bigger than the compartments in which they must fit into (42 cm x 32 cm x 80 cm).

Clowthing
October is an ideal season for this tour, usually warm/hot, but who knows, rain is possible and you will appreciate some warm clothing during the evening.

Money change:
Full board is included - so you'll only need some cash for your personal expenses and souvenirs. Bring US dollars with you (bills of $10 and $20)

Vaccinations : no vaccination is required. However, please ask your doctor for his/her advice. Malaria prophilaxy can be advised but in not compulsory.
